Jul 31, 2024	Lots of good news over the past few weeks: Chris Davies-Jenkins published two first-author papers on [modeling GABA-edited spectra with measured macromolecules(Magn Reson Med) as well as 7T MRS and PiB-PET amyloid measures in patients with mild cognitive impairment and late-life depression (Neurobiology of Aging) - fantastic work. Dunja Simicic published her paper on model-based frequency and phase correction (Magn Reson Med). We received the notice of award for a four-year R01 on “Model Selection for Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy”, which will allow us to continue developing new tools to improve spectral fitting and uncertainty estimation with Osprey. Last but not least, we are lucky to have welcomed Dr. Seyma Alcicek, a visiting postdoctoral fellow from PD Dr. Katharina Wenger-Alakhmeh’s group at the University of Frankfurt. Seyma has tremendous expertise in brain tumor MRS and will contribute it to our ongoing collaboration with neurooncology.
Mar 31, 2024	We’re very excited to share Dunja Simicic’s pre-print on using 2D linear-combination modeling to directly integrate frequency-and-phase correction of individual transients. This exciting work is the first application of our new, completely overhauled Osprey modeling module first described in Helge’s (also brand-new at Magn Reson Med) paper. Very cool times ahead.

Aug 31, 2023	Dr. Helge Zöllner has been awarded a highly prestigious and lucrative K99 Career Development Award from the National Institute on Aging entitled “Brain metabolism across the lifespan using multi-parametric MRS”. This is an outstanding reward for his ever-growing contributions and a fantastic opportunity. Congratulations, Helge!

Feb 28, 2023	Another hepatic encephalopathy paper for Helge Zöllner from our Düsseldorf times! We show that GABA+ levels decrease in the motor cortex and increase in the cerebellum in HE patients. Congrats Helge!

Oct 28, 2021	NMR in Biomedicine has published our extensive methodological paper on linear-combination modeling strategies for GABA-edited MEGA-PRESS data. To quote one of our reviewers: “The figures are also exceptionally well done – Edward Tufte (The Visual Display of Quantitative Information) would definitely approve.” Congratulations Helge Zöllner!
Jul 29, 2021	We have received a BriteStar award ($12,500) from the Department of Radiology and Radiological Science at Johns Hopkins University to develop techniques for simultaneous assessment of IDH mutation status, 1p/19q codeletion status, glutathione, and lactate levels in low-grade gliomas with in-vivo magnetic resonance spectroscopy at 3T!
